We want to share our hidden acre of gardens with as many people as possible, so this year for the first time we joined The National Garden Scheme to open our gardens to the public in exchange for donations to the Scheme’s various nursing charities. Our two open days, on 5th and 6th July, raised over £900 for the Scheme, through online and cash donations.
We hope everybody is having an interesting week so far. As for us, we feel like we have woken up in an episode of Hedgehog Bridgerton!
We had a hot tip from Lady Whistledown that an amorous local male hedgehog has been paying our rescue hedgehog Daphne unchaperoned visits, resulting in four very cute baby hoglets. Check out this footage of our newest guests, captured by our Night Manager Patryk and our Server Lukasz.
What WILL the Duke of Hastings say Daphne?
Four weeks ago, we welcomed three baby rescue hedgehogs – Daphne, Jane and Beatrix – into our quiet acre of gardens. Unsurprisingly for nocturnal wild animals, sightings have been few and far between. So we were delighted to welcome wildlife photographer Ian Wade to our gardens one evening, to capture the girls in action!
