We are delighted to share that, after months of work reviewing and updating our CSR and sustainability policies and processes, we have achieved the Green Key accreditation.
The Green Key award is the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. This prestigious eco-label represents a commitment by businesses that their premises adhere to the strict criteria set by the Foundation for Environmental Education. A Green Key stands for the promise to its guests that by opting to stay with the Green Key establishment, they are helping to make a difference on an environmental level.
To achieve the accreditation, The RCH appointed the sustainability consultancy Mission: Net Zero, and formed an internal Green Team, who set about checking and updating everything from the suppliers we use to the water pressure in the bathrooms. It took 2-3 months to make the necessary changes and gather the evidence ready for Green Key’s stringent audit.
Our General Manager Lorraine Jarvie says: “We have always been conscious of our environmental responsibilities as a business, and the process of applying for this accreditation has helped us to strengthen our approach. Sustainable travel is becoming increasingly important to our guests, who strive to have either a positive or net zero environmental impact. Thanks to the Green Key accreditation, guests can now feel safe in the knowledge that by staying with us they are making a sustainable choice.”
